Perched at the tip of Aurlandsfjord, tiny Flam stands between rocky walls and deep, still water. From here an electric train starts a 12 mile, 3,000 foot climb, plunging through tunnels and zigzagging between mountaintops, before finally emerging at lofty Myrdal. Return by the same route, or take another spectacularly scenic ride through Romsdal Alps.
